Yes Cookies: chocolate chip cookies to feel good about

I am always looking for easy ways to get my family to eat more healthy foods. My kids eat veggies and fruit but who doesn’t love a cookie? I wanted a Yes Cookie. Something the kids could eat for breakfast or anytime and I’d still feel good about what they ate. This recipe is inspired by a recipe in Jessica Seinfeld’s Deceptively Delicious. She uses chemical sugars and “food-like” stuff like margarine but it gave me a starting point for amounts. Yes Cookies 1 cup organic coconut sugar 3/4 cup organic butter 1 organic egg 2 teaspoons organic vanilla extract 2 cups...

Make Your Own Toothpaste

I’ve had much success washing my face with oil as well as making my own laundry detergent, deodorant, and shampoo (tutorials coming soon).  The best has been making my own toothpaste.  You know how I feel about fluoride.  Even as a topical application (which is the only application that *may* help teeth NOT ingestion through water) I don’t think it is neccessary.  However, mainstream toothpastes are filled with other bad ingredients. Make Your Own “Vicks” Chest Rub

It is so easy to make a safe and natural chest rub you’ll wonder why you haven’t been doing it all along! Maybe you’d rather boycott Procter and Gamble or you don’t like that Vicks is made with petroleum jelly. Or, maybe you just want to save some money. Whatever your reason making a rub that soothes and opens your airways is super easy. I’ve seen recipes online that we’re a little more complicated but I use this simple method and love it. Take 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and mix 10 drops if eucalyptus essential oil in. Add more eucalyptus a few drops at a...

OCM or How I Washed My Face With Olive Oil

I am shocked!  Shocked that it works and shocked that EVERYONE isn’t doing this.  Shocked that no one told me about this sooner! For the last 3 weeks I have exclusively washed my face with a mixture (50/50) of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Castor Oil.  Yep.  That’s it.  No soap.  Just Oil. I don’t know where I first heard of OCM, or Oil Cleaning Method, but I got most of my information from this site.  If you’re like me reading that will open your eyes to so many misconceptions we have about our skin and cleanliness.  Here’s my experience. Now, in case you...
